Our goal is to raise the very best, healthy
and happy Shorty Jack Russell's.
 |
 |
Oliver is my 3rd
Jack Russell and the 2 before him were
the best little girls ever! When they passed, I knew I would get another
Jack, but I was afraid that I would never find one that was as wonderful as
the girls.
I started my search years ago when Katie
passed and stumbled onto
Madra Beag Farms. Fiona’s description of her dogs matched the personality of
mine. So I spent the last couple of years following this little Jack Russel
farm. Everything I read told me that my next pup would come from Maine! |
Last year when Isabelle passed I broke the
news to my husband, I
“needed” to go to Maine to get my next Jack. His comment was, “you mean to
tell me there isn’t a single Jack Russell Terrier between here and Maine?” (I
live in Georgia) Well….
I flew to Boston and met little Oliver in
the airport.
Oliver is the best dog I have ever owned!
He is obedient, easy to
train, friendly to every person and every dog. He is not hyper, quite the
opposite! We joke that he thinks he is a golden retriever!
|
He is everything I could ask for in a companion.
He rides with me in
my car, goes into stores and meets with my clients. He stays by my side,
sitting patiently when I am talking to people, walks off leash, runs to sit
on the stairs when the doorbell rings, sits, stays, rolls over, crawls,
catches a Frisbee, retrieves balls, plays soccer and even “dies” when shot
with a “bang”!
|
He is only 10 months old, I can only imagine
what else he can be
taught! I have to say the thing he does that I love the most is the way he
looks at me. When I walk into a room, come home or talk to him he makes eye
contact and holds it until I stop talking to him. He is always aware of where
I am and what I am doing.
So, I am so very glad to have found Madra
Beag Farms those years ago
and so glad to have read Fiona’s website that she raises “loyal, sweet
natured, kind hearted, comical and athletic little dogs”. That is the best
description of my Oliver.
|
To answer my husbands’ question, “No,
there was not a single Jack
Russel Terrier between here (Georgia) and Maine….at least not one like my
Ollie!!”
Thank you, Fiona, he is every bit as wonderful
as my girls (maybe a
bit better)

Hi Fiona!
Happy New Year! Just wanted to say hello and let you know that Tigger is the sweetest
little guy. We love him so much and he is the biggest hit in all the stores I take him to. Here is a picture of
him taken last week at Petsmart with my youngest grandson Aaron, Petsmart is Tigger's favorite store where everyone knows
him and loves it when Tigger comes to visit. Everyone that meets him can't get over what an adorable little guy he is.
I get compliments on his coat and his markings too and they always want to know where I got him. so happy I found him
on your website! Take care and we wish you and your family well for
this and the coming years!

Hi Fiona ! Just thought I'd send a quick update on feargus and oona. I can't
imagine our family with out them. They are so completely different in personality (oona is an intense hunter and super affectionate.
Very considerate rand sensitive would never jump on your lap without permission. Feargus is a total goofball, who just assumes
your lap is his- so playful and silly.) to say that we adore them is an understatement. Thanks for bringing them into our
lives! Maureen

Hi Fiona,
We saw a puppy picture of Stanley on
your website and wanted to give you an update. Feel free to use any of the pictures and/or pieces of this email as a testimonial.
(Your customers may want to see what your puppies look like as they mature.)
Stanley. What an adorable puppy. But he’s becoming an even
better dog. Smart. Funny. Loving. Athletic. He’s ten months old and he’s awesome. Still a puppy, but maturing
into a beautiful dog. In every way.
We followed your advice from
the beginning. Exercise. Discipline. Affection. Lots of each. In that order. Because of it, Stanley
is a delight. He was crate trained from the moment we brought him home. We were vigilant about getting him outside to his
“spot” when he had to go. The only“accidents” were user error. Today, he tells us when he needs to
go outside. Never a problem.
Stanley loves to run. He loves to chase a ball. He loves the
beach. He loves our woodpiles. He loves the snow. He loves to lounge next to the woodstove or cuddle on the couch in front
of a Bruins game when the day is done. He loves us. And we love him. We are so happy we chose him from Madrabeag Farm.
What a special dog. Thanks.

Hi Fiona,
I just thought you would enjoy the attached
photos of Nula and her best friend Fritz (my friend's dog). Nula has brought me so much joy - and I so grateful to have her.
Happy Holidays to you and all the residents of Madra Beag Farm.

Lily is doing great. She is now six pounds and has
definite eyebrows and whiskers and is just as cute as could be. She and Abby are best buds... They curl up and "spoon" when they are napping in the office. At the same time, it's so interesting
to watch them establish their little pack order; Lily is constantly tugging on Abby's big old droopy lips and neck and ears
until she says "stop". Abby put Lily in her place once and now the pup knows
her boundaries LOL.
We never had to "crate train" Lily... from day one she went right to sleep when we put her in at night, never making a peep. What a blessing!
I'll be sure to send some photos from time to time. Cathy
Hi, Fiona.
Darby, aka Clea, is a fantastic dog! This month our kids and
grandboys, 6.5 yrs. & 3 yrs, have been visiting us and naturally, Darby has been a great deal of their focus. Let
me just say, that Darby has been wonderful with the kids...from the get-go she's loved all people...and if the kids begin
to get to her, she knows enough to "get out of sight" so to speak. The oldest grandboy loves to play ball with her,
walk her around on a leash and can't get enough of picking Darby up and walking around with her. I think he would hold
her most of the time if his mom and I weren't keeping an eye on the two of them. I'm sure you're not surprised how good
natured and lovable Darby is but how much she also can be a JRT...the hole she's been digging in her run-area is almost the
size of her and there seems to be no stopping her! She's obsessed!
P.S. Bragging a bit...Darby seems to be liked/loved by all who she
comes in contact with. Picking her up after her dental appointment, 5 vet techs dropped in to say "goodby" to Darby
while we were waiting in the office and to tell me "she's the best dog ever...we love having her around". Gad sooks,
she gets more praises than our 2 kids ever did! Keep doing whatever you're doing.

Hi Fiona, This is Debbie Krinsky from Manchester NH. I adopted “Colleen”
in June of 2009. Minnie is her mother. I renamed her Darcy and she has been my sidekick ever since. She is absolutely
the best dog for me and we are very devoted to each other. The first photo is Darcy sound asleep and the second is Darcy and
our neighbor’s dog, Molly, playing tug-a-war during a play date visit.
Sincerely,
Debra Krinsky

Dear Fiona, Scruffy is "perfect." He does not bark. He is friendly to all people and with all dogs.
He is reliable on long off-leash walks on the trails where we meet dogs, joggers and bicycles. He stays at home, comes
when he is called, is 98% housebroken.... And of course, cute as a button. Thank you, Hanna

Hi Fiona,
It's been on my mind to ask you this for WEEKS... She's
doing great! We went three straight days with no accidents in the house. I was expecting her record not to be so good with
this nasty weather, and it hasn't been, but no big deal. I'm not thrilled about going out in this crap myself! She sits automatically
now when she comes to you and is learning down pretty well. We're starting stay... Darned hard for such a baby! She's become
a favorite at the hardware store, where she's been several times with Eric (who ADORES her; and she him!) She's so friendly
and curious that she is really pulling Tucker out of himself. Whenever she meets new people, he has to go say hello to them
too! She has already been on a horse with me and been out for a carriage ride; neither fazed her.
Anyway, they are both great-separately and together. We really feel blessed
to have these two marvelous dogs as part of our family! Thank you so much for your commitment to breeding correct dogs with
great dispositions, for your patience with your puppy buyers, and for sending so much time with us to help us decide which
puppy would fit best with us and Tucker. And thanks most for trusting me with Tucker, who started it all!
Liz THANK YOU LIZ, this is a real compliment and much appreciated!

Hi Fiona,
Just checking in with a quick update about Guinness. He is doing great,
and everybody loves him! He's learning his basic commands, easily. He LOVES to play all day, every day with his
canine buddy, Riley. He also loves to hunt for mice with our cats in the back yard. His coat is coming in nicely
and he's a lovely member of the family, we all just adore him. My husband is especailly fond of him and often takes
him to run errands, he even went to work with him the other day....all the customers thought he was the cutest little pup:o)
My mother was here for a visit last weekend and I don't think she put him down to walk on his own the entire time she was
here, in fact she even smuggled him out of his crate at night and stowed him away with her in the guest bedroom, where he
slept quite comfortable under the blankets, curled up at her feet.
Anyways, Guinness is great, as you already know, and everyone who meets him thinks
he's great too! Thanks again for such a great little dog...and if we didn't already have Riley too we'd be inquiring about
the next litter. But for now, two dogs will do:o)

Hi Fiona, I just had to tell you that we are enjoying
Finnegan very much. He is THE CENTER of attention EVERYWHERE he goes, and he truly is quite the little "ham," as you
predicted. He loves people and especially children.
He will be making his first plane trip to Michigan next month,
and so far, he is a very good little traveller, very cozy in his back-pack carrier. Hope all is well with you
and your family, Kasey and Grant Kidd

Hi Fiona,
....He's now going to agility on Sundays when I'm home and the weather cooperates and to basic obedience on Thursdays.
He's a super star in both classes. Martha adores him, as does Charlene, the co-instructor at obedience. Yesterday was only
his third agility class and already he's running series of obstacles and is the only dog in the class who spends nearly all
of the class off leash. His obedience works is even better. Of course, we can practice that at home every day, too. He's got
stand, sit, and down stays for at least 3 minutes each now, is working off leash at home, has automatic heel sits down cold,
is almost perfect at turns in place, and is tolerating stand for examination by someone other than me. Basic runs another
four weeks then he'll move onto intermediate, and from that to the competition class. He should be ready to start competing
at novice this fall. I fully intend to title him in obedience, rally-o, and agility. He's the dog I've been waiting for to
compete with. (And here I thought I was just getting a buddy!) .....
Cheers!
Liz

Hi Fiona,
Oliver and Pip are best friends now and are together
ALL THE TIME. Ollie gets upset when he can't jump up on the couch or bed to be with his big brother. Pip is wonderful with
him. He watches out for him and teaches him.
I've enclosed another wonderful picture of the two
of them for your scrapbook.
Hope you and your family are well. I've told someone
else about you and when their Lab finally goes, they're considering another Russell. They have a rough coated one right now.
Oliver is the best sales pitch I've got. EVERYBODY
LOVES HIM!!!!!
Stay well, Dottie

When we decided to go with Jack Russell Terriers, we looked long and hard for the right breeder: someone who treated
their dogs like part of the family, and would spend time with us patiently answer our questions. We met several breeders whom
we could tell right away did not fit this description. When we got to Fiona's farm, we knew right away this was where we wanted
to get our dogs. Her five adult Jack Russells greeted us warmly and calmly. We felt at home right away, and talked with her
at length about the kind of dogs we were looking for, our lifestyle and so on. She took a lot of time out of her busy day
with her young children to answer all our questions, and asked us some good questions, too.
Most of all, we were astounded
by how calm and balanced her dogs were. We'd never seen Jack Russells like that, as the breed is often known for being extremely
active and highly energetic. Her dogs are wonderful, well behaved, even mellow (!) little guys. Don't get me wrong - they
love to play and romp, but they also greatly enjoy a snuggle on the sofa. This, to us, is the ideal!
We got Sadie and
Rocco a few weeks ago, and they are a total joy! They are happy, plump, playful little pups who just love their humans! We
could not be happier with them. And as new owners, we've had a MILLION questions, which Fiona has patiently and kindly answered
for us via phone and email. When the dogs had a little tummy issue last week, Fiona was right on the phone, encouraging us
to talk with the vet about what was going on. They got some medicine and have been just fine ever since! She reassured us
that her pups are hearty little guys, and that has proven to be true - like all pups, they are into EVERYTHING and we've had
our hands full! But we love them very much and they're already a part of our family.
We are very grateful to Fiona
for all her help and for bringing us such joy in our lives!

Dear Fiona,
Happy New Year! Just
wanted to let you know how much we enjoy Toby. He is so smart, cute, and fun. Toby is very playful, he has bonded well with
Hershey our eleven year old lab, bringing back a playful energy. Toby always wants to cuddle up with us. He has definitely
chosen Iain for a playmate, mischeviously tugging at his socks when they play. Toby is a very healthy, active, adorable, cuddly, energetic
addition to our family. Thanks for such a great dog.
Best regards to you
and your family,
Michelle

From the moment my husband and I brought Barley home our lives were
forever changed, in an amazing way. After meeting Fiona and her dogs I knew
right away a puppy from her litter was the right choice. We were looking for
a dog who would be active and enjoy the outdoors as much as we did but one that would also be able to snuggle up with us for
some relaxing days on the couch. We wanted a dog that would be great around
kids, after observing Fiona and her children in their home with the dogs I knew the puppies would have all the attention they
needed and would be well socialized. Barley was easy to house train and crate
train due to the intelligent nature of the breed but I believe it’s mostly due to the training and attention Fiona gave
to the puppies during the first couple months.
Because
Barley has brought so much joy to our family we are currently waiting on our second dog from one of Fiona’s litters. Going with another breeder was out of the question for us. I know Fiona picks dogs that have the best temperament and are not the typical yappy overly hyper Jacks. Everyone who meets Barley is so impressed with his temperament, and intelligence. People say they have never seen a Jack like him, and that’s why I originally
decided to have one of Fiona’s pups and will be doing it again shortly!
Barley loves to go hiking; he’s tackled some pretty big ones! He loves to go camping, swim, playing Flyball (he’s on the Maine Coast Runners Flyball Team), he
loves to go fishing, and knows all his toys by specific names! Barley also loves
to take a good nap, snuggled under the blanket on the couch. He’s a great dog!
